The weekly attestation.

Because Virtualis Arizona operates online, daily seat-time is not the practical measure of attendance. Instead, weekly instructional hours are verified by a parent-signed attestation. Submit one per scholar, every Sunday by 11:59 p.m. The attestation is part of the official school record and is used for ESA receipt purposes when applicable.

Quick reference.

Required Hours per Week

Grades K–6: 32 hours per week (1,050 hours per year)
Grades 7–12: 35 hours per week (1,137 hours per year)
(Virtualis K–7 in the 2026–27 inaugural year; high school grades added one per year starting Fall 2028.)

What Counts

Live Great Hearts classes, Socratic discussions, asynchronous teacher-directed work, assigned reading, math practice, science labs, world language, fine arts practice, and parent–student academic conversations tied to coursework.

What Does Not

Lunch, unsupervised breaks, and recreational activity not connected to course objectives.

If You Miss the Deadline

If a weekly attestation is missing or insufficient, the Principal may assign absences. Each 6.5 hours (K–6) or 7 hours (7–12) of deficit equals one full day absent. Read the Family Handbook for details.
